Martin Guggenheim, Clinical Professor of Law and former Director of Clinical and Advocacy Programs at New York University Law School is one of the nation’s leading experts on juvenile law.

Prof. Guggenheim successfully argued the landmark U.S. Supreme Court case Santosky v. Kramer in which the court raised the standard of proof required to terminate parental rights.

A former Acting Director of the American Civil Liberties Foundation Juvenile Rights Project, Prof. Guggenheim is co-author of four books, including  What’s Wrong with Children’s Rights, The Rights of Families, The Rights of Young People, and The Rights of Parents.

He is a member of the American Bar Association Section on Criminal Justice Juvenile Justice Subcommittee. He serves on the Boards of Advisors for the New York City Administration for Children’s Services and Child Welfare Watch, and the Boards of Directors of the Family Defense Law Project, Inc. and the Brennan Center for Justice.

Prof. Guggenheim has served as a consultant to the American Bar Association/Institute of Judicial Administration Juvenile Justice Standards Project and on the Board of Advisors to the Edna McConnell Clark Foundation.
